not like that, you pervs. :P
the whole 'search for a car' thing has been quite the roller coaster and as someone who still has quite the of a phobia of actual roller coasters, mental/financial roller coasters are even less fun and can stretch on forever. SO WANT TO GET OFF ALREADY.
so even though this car was okayed by the mechanic my mom trusts, at the second viewing of the car, my mom found two problems. the first was that the release levers for the back seats were broken/missing/DOES NOT WORK. uh, kinda defeats the purpose of me looking for a hatchback of this style. quite the problem. have no idea if it's something easily fixed replaced but srsly, how/why the hell of all the million bits on a car would THOSE break? it just kind of boggles the mind or at least my mind. second, the first time we saw the car, we had the windows rolled down because it was a bit warm but not so much that we needed the AC (and i tend to prefer fresh air to AC if weather allows it). the second time, i guess my mom and stepdad were inspecting the car while the windows were rolled up and doors closed and discovered that the car had a rather pungent smell to it. soooooo i started looking at craigslist again...
and saw this car. sure, it takes away the need for me to learn stick but dang if it doesn't seem like a sweet deal, especially in comparison to this other car i found, which we did take a look at and it wasn't BAD but definitely wasn't as shiny as the GTI, which we looked at right after. i mean, if you take into consideration that the Golf is at a dealership so it'd be $6998 plus all the sales tax and blahblahblah, actually turning out to be more like $7700 out the door, the GTI is total WIN over it. sure, it's got some rock dings on the front that i'd have to take care of prior to rainy season so's to not risk rust but other than that, it was a pretty sweet ride. 4 doors would've been nice but i'll live. it was more of the ease of people getting in or the down folding of the seats when i need the extra space but meh, i can definitely manage without. now just to see if it gets our mechanics approval. *crosses fingers* DX
now...to take the lappy to school/work with me or nay... 2 hour break between classes. groo~

so i finally remembered 'oh hey, i have an iPhone which means i have an iPod which means i can totally get podcasts now...'
so far, i've subscribed to A State of Trance (Armin Van Buuren), Nocturnal (Matt Darey), Radio 538 (Tiesto), Trance Around the World (Above & Beyond) and two various house ones, OHM (Our House Movement), which is a bit more soul/funk oriented, and Summa Solstice, which is more chill/latin. i likes them all and am open to suggestions for others whether they're electronica, rock or whatevers. :D
car update: there is no car. yet. the money situation is really holding things up with me having no credit and so far, no one can cosign with me. dad tried to buy teh ubar camera for his new project and got denied so he thinks he'll get denied for the car, stepdad has teh awsum credit but isn't working so he's out and mom is working and a good credit but is being paid cash under the table so that doesn't count. still trying to figure out ways to work it but in the mean time, out of the cars we've seen, this and this are in the running, with the Rabbit being first. am slightly intimidated by the stick shift and bummed with the lack of an aux input on the Mazda3 but things i could adjust (to) later.

to the late Chachamaru, my dear white 1990 hatchback Acura Integra GS. you served me well over the past 8-9 years, getting me to work, over the Santa Cruz mountains on highway 17 to get back to Silicon Valley, Vegas, Los Angeles and even to Reno and back, on multiple occasions many times. sure, you broke down a couple of times but for the most part, you were a good and dependable car to someone who's probably not the best at taking care of her cars in the first place. i'm sorry i sucked at maintaining you in comparison to the person who owned you prior to me but know that i loved you nonetheless, even with the fart pipe and the constant scrapping when trying to go over speed bumps and on some driveways. :3
Already Missing You,
Me
- - - - -
uh so yeah, Chachamaru is dead. to be more specific, the engine is dead. blown. kaput. apparently the head gasket was cracked so yay oil and coolant/water mixing! so yeah, D-E-D dead. it just sucks because i JUST paid for the registration on the car. thankfully, i hadn't paid for the insurance yet but bleh...
so basically, the need to buy a new car has been put into overdrive so i've been trying to figure out what kind of car i want to get next. i really hadn't been looking into it because this was something that was going to happen once i finished school so i didn't really have any idea as to what cars are even really out there, save for the ones you see just about every where like Civics and such.
so i decided to ask one of the guys at work who seemed to be really into cars what he thought might be good for me. i told him i wanted something not too impossibly priced, had good/decent gas mileage, was fairly roomy for both front and rear passengers (because i know some of you suffered trying to ride in the back of Chachamaru) and would be good/had enough trunk space for roadtripping. all of his suggestions were hatchbacks of sorts, but not necessarily station wagons, like the Toyota Matrix, Mazda 3 and the VW Rabbit so i looked into those as well as a few of the other sporty hatchbacks from other companies.
i don't really know anything when it comes to car parts and what not but regardless, i'm liking the 2009 Matrix S the most so far. i like the way it looks over just about the others and has just about all i could ask for from a car, though i do like the versatility of the chair configurations in the Honda Fit (which also has a new 2009 model coming out), especially the Refresh Mode. unfortunately, it just doesn't look as shiny as the Matrix. :x the Nissan Versa looked pretty shiny until i realized that the rear seats don't fold down flat with the cargo space. or at least from the picture provided it doesn't look like they do. bleh, silly 'stylized' car pictures that don't show them in a realistic light... also, the trunk opening wasn't as wide as the one on the Matrix.
i dunno, i'm up for other suggestions or opinions regarding the cars i've mentioned. i think i do want to stick to having a hatchback of some sort for the storage space. i don't think i need something that's super sporty, which is why i probably won't for the Impreza WRX hatchback. ;3 but yeah, info prz~
oh, and Reno stuffs tomorrow. mebbe. :x

o rite, since i asked
silverkun to do me, i was supposed to post this. so 3, 2, here go!
If you ask I will...
1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
7. In return, you must post this in your LJ.
If you don't have an LJ, #'s 6 and 7 don't apply, unless you feel like doing it on your myspace/facebook/whatev. But you can play anyway. :)
in other random news, when i win the lottery/have a kick ass paying job/etc, i totally fucking need one of these.
thanksgiving was alright. did the family thing with dad's side of the family, minus him and my stepmom (for reasons mentioned below). uncle was pretty much all better from the sinus infection so he was able to enjoy the holiday just fine. his brother brought this REALLY FUCKING AWESOME DELICIOUS portuguese sweet bread that i couldn't stop eating. rather than eating pumpkin or pecan pie for dessert, i had the bread. SO GOOD. and having his mother's mashed potatoes (which probably has as much butter in them as Paula Deen puts in her's) is always a very awesome thing. watched Shrek 3 with the kids though will probably have to sit down and watch it again sometime as i kept getting art requests from stepsis's kids. n.n; all in all, a good family thanksgiving lunch.
came home around 5 and the turkey coma was kicking in at that point so i figured i'd sit out on the fancy dinner at a restaurant my mom invited me to, especially seeing as i'd have to be up in time to work at 4:30am the next day. ~_~; we did the family thanksgiving at home the weekend before so it wasn't too big a deal. i just wish the turkey had actually knocked me out, rather than just making me a bit groggy, as i ended up staying up until about 1am anyways. -_-; sure made working Black Friday more interesting!
stepmom is home from the hospital, thankfully, though will have to go back for multiple tests since BOTH teams that were working on her case have yet to solve why she threw a clot in the first place. or if it even was a clot. as they were thinking it might be and infection as well. BUT IT'S NOT LUPUS! so yeah, they're just waiting for the blood thinners to wash out of her system so they can get a more accurate blood test. poor lady is still in a lot of pain. 1/3 of the kidney is pretty much DED but still functional so no transplant needed. really hope they're able to sort things out soon. =/
Ah, and obviously managed to survive Black Friday (on 2 hours of sleep and taking a 30-45min nap in my car during lunch) and a 12pm-12am shift the following day relatively unscathed. feet and shoulder hurt like a mofo, and still do a bit, but an epsom salt soak helped with that quite a bit. urgh, blah on 'holiday hours' though. open an extra hour every day until Xmas. i sure hope they don't expect me to stay til midnight each day i'm closing. <_< that would make me rather unhappy. our new department manager seems like an okay guy, though a bit too...over enthusiastic and tries a bit too hard to be funny at times. ah well, at least he actually goes out of his way to make conversation with all of us unlike the first DM we had. we'll see how it goes~

so you have to love that Edgar Wright is rather "huh...this is news to me," over the whole thing. leave it to FOX to throw the news out there without even consulting the original creators first? n.n;
in other news, zomg earthquake! a delicious 5.6er centered here in the south bay. felt it pretty darn strongly in Palo Alto, which is a few miles north of the epicenter. i was highly amused that none of the customers (yeah, i was at work) were really phased by it. hell, i don't think any of them really felt it. THEY JUST KEPT SHOPPING. darn Silicon Valley-ans or something. n.n; left me feeling kinda dizzy/lightheaded for the rest of the day but that's about it. only one thing fell over in my room so i was relieved. apparently, the poor cats kinda went nutso during the quake then hid under beds and such for a good while after. poor Toboe was still a bit wide eyed even when i got home from work at 11:30. but hey, at least the pressure on that fault is relieved and at least it happened YESTERDAY instead of tonight when all the kids are out.
dinner with Erica was very pleasant and i was happy she enjoyed the food from my favorite restaurant, Gochi. XD tried a couple of new things: the sweet corn tempura and lychee mousse. i love sweet corn. i love tempura. putting them together is just awesome. basically stripped the cob of the kernals, dipped them in the tempura batter, then fried as a corn ball of sorts. very good. the lychee mousse though...MMMMM. the wonderful taste of lychee without having to feel like you're eating an eyeball. SO GOOD. a lot of the other specials looked really good too but i ordered some of the 'regulars' that we generally get. Erica muchly <3'd the yakiniku kimchee meishi, as she rightly should. X3 possibly driving up to SF tonight to hang out with her s'more before she heads back home. still need to find a bowler hat. groo~ =_=;
Hellgate London is out and shiny as evar. i still need to go pick up a copy and am hoping that Fry's was able to get theirs though it kinda worries me that i didn't see our Fry's put up their copies when we were closing last night. =/ oh well, gonna check the SV store first anyways. paying the founders fee for lifetime subscription? very likely at this point. :3

LOLZ USB POLE DANCER
so i spent most of my weekend...shopping. o_o yay for holiday sales and such. n.n; got a couple of new shirts, new shorts, random Heely's shoes (must practice using them at some point...) and a new, nice pair of Juicy sunglasses. also a really cute Tokidoki pirate print bag that i liked but OWPRICE. great jeebus, can someone tell me why they're so expensive in comparison to Harajuku Lovers? srsly, i think for the price of one of TD's bookbags, i could get 1.5 to 2 of HL. x_x; just oof... anyways, that was friday and saturday.
sunday was a drop by Fanime day w/ KnM+Nam to hang out with JnS. didn't really do anything con related. sorry i didn't drop by the karaoke room for all the karaoke peeps. D: we did wander by the maid cafe and...like M said, not too impressed. n.n; not by the gals nor their costumes. they just seemed so...stark to me for some reason. maybe i was expecting more ruffles? i dunno...
oh,
frumpysf, to whom do i speak to regarding panels and video programming? while i didn't drop by the room myself, i know a lot of people were disappointed at the late friday night yuri showing. i'd be happy to head both the panel and a NON-hentai yuri video room for Fanime next year because *GASP* there is yuri that isn't PORN! :D let me know~
anyways, mostly just hung out in JnS's hotel room, running a game that surprisingly didn't end with my character dying. this is an amazing thing because she's the healer, and we all know from FF7 that the HEALER ALWAYS DIES FIRST! :D she's survived 5+ games now...just amazing... much fun was had, much AHMAHGAWDS KILL IT KILL IT and so forth as per usual for our games. :3
monday was spent couch potatoing while marathoning most of Escaflowne with my buddy Nam. his favorite part was when Dilandau slaps one of his Dragonslayers after giving his report. we both lol'd plenty at that. :3

sunday was a drop by Fanime day w/ KnM+Nam to hang out with JnS. didn't really do anything con related. sorry i didn't drop by the karaoke room for all the karaoke peeps. D: we did wander by the maid cafe and...like M said, not too impressed. n.n; not by the gals nor their costumes. they just seemed so...stark to me for some reason. maybe i was expecting more ruffles? i dunno...
oh,
anyways, mostly just hung out in JnS's hotel room, running a game that surprisingly didn't end with my character dying. this is an amazing thing because she's the healer, and we all know from FF7 that the HEALER ALWAYS DIES FIRST!
all in all a good weekend. hopefully next weekend will be shiny too.

okay, so i would really like to get a few figurines but of course, i'm months late so they're sold out/discontinued/backordered/what have you. so i looked on ebay to see if i could find them but...a lot of the sellers are from HK, which makes me nervous because of things like Sader, the malformed Saber. DX anyone know any HK sellers that are dependable and actually sell the original japanese releases or a way to determine if they do? can't really go by pictures because most of them are the same pictures recycled over and over again. X/ there are some NA stores that have them as well but i'm just trying to sort out the costs since it costs a pretty penny to ship from HK even if the bidding/buy out price is pretty nice. if i'm gonna spend the money for something that's discontinued, i want it to be the real deal. x_x

...my store somehow got 5-7 more boxes full of WoW:BC collectors editions, which adds up to about 30 or so available. i know we had some as of 9pm last night but i'm uncertain as to how many are left at this precise moment. if there are any left, better tell me if you want one so i can stow one away. XD *eyes

oh, my phone also has text messaging again so yay! unlimited to people on verizon, people not on verizon...not so much but somewhat. n.n; god i'm so slow at text messaging now... ~_~;
...and i totally missed the new episode of Heroes. wtf me? i'm hoping the recorder got it but...i'm not holding my breath. *sigh* ;_;

...are YOU in line at Fry's to get your midnight signed copy of WoW:BC?!
[edit - 01:47am] so i decided 'what the hell,
keisuke_chan and
cloveroo are already in line. just a matter of dressing up warm and waiting for a bit, right?' so two pairs of pants (jeans over sweatpants. who says baggy clothes are bad? :D), one long sleeve shirt under a t-shirt and fleece jacket later, i'm ready to head out. oh, and a beanie. can't forget the beanie. i went ahead and dropped by the bank to pull cash out just to be sure i could pay for it. darn unpredictable wamu.
zoomj back to Fry's and scurry to meet up with
keisuke_chan in line. amused the hell out of their group and a few other groups of people next to us in line since i brought my lappy with me (for extra warmth! yay macbook heater!) and remembered it has the WoW South Park episode on it. fairly cute girl in line was practically leaning on me to watch along with us since i guess she had never seen it before. XD
line started moving so we happily shuffled along at a much faster rate of speed than i think anyone really expected it to. i had my moment of specialness when i realized i had left my wallet in the CAR. C&T were kind enough to front me so i wouldn't have to run to my car right away. got into the store and sighed in relief as the warmth from the heaters greeted us. \o/ i was a bit worried there weren't gonna be enough collectors edition copies left, even though each (Fry's) store that was doing midnight releases got 4500 copies, they didn't really specify how it'd be split up. thankfully, my worries were more than put to rest when i saw they had like 3-4 full palletes of CE's. i snagged one while C&T got one CE and one normal.
we figured we'd already waited in line this long (well, C&T & Co much much longer than myself. :I), why not get the signatures from the developers. the line split up into two and they only let you get one group of signatures so that was kinda a bummer but seeing as we didn't really come for the signatures, it wasn't that much of big deal. besides, we got the more 'asian' group of developers. XD got our artbooks/covers signed then moseyed on over to the registers.
they had ALL of the registers open so the actual purchasing went by fast as well. i was a bit surprised to see that they weren't limiting the number of copies being sold. $200+ on amazon already. you damn buzzards. but yeah, we all left happily with our PH4T L00tz. they were letting in the last group of people just as we were leaving so i figure there must've been at least...1000-1500? i'm kinda surprised there weren't more, really.
really, i probably would've had just as much fun just being there and hanging out but it's nice to have the game too. as for when i'll actually load it up and play...ummm...whenever the servers don't crash on a regular basis? n.n;;; and yes, i will be making teh smexy blood elf. XD

well, after an 18-1/2hr shift, i actually don't hurt as bad as i thought i was going to. oh, i still hurt PLENTY, i'm just not on the verge of tears or anything. n.n;
ugh...good lord, y'know, like every other asian, i love sales. they are wonderful things and you can score really awesome stuff for low prices at times. but SERIOUSLY. waking up at 3AM to line up in the FREEZING COLD (yes, there was ICE ON MY WINDOWS. i know California's are somewhat wussies when it comes to cold but ice on my windows has to count for SOMETHING.) to buy things that are limited to only 1 per customer is just...beyond my comprehension. the line went from the front door, out to the street and around the building to the back parking lot. i was just...BEFUDDLED at the sheer showmanship of CONSUMERISM.
anyways, long story short as possible, the first 3 or so hours went by REALLY FAST. i had the soundtrack for The Endless Summer II playing on the compy speakers and it was on the countryish sounding song used when the boys were trying to ride ostriches in Africa. THE MUSIC WAS PERFECT. my GAWD, the FEEDING FRENZY. apparently, a small brawl of some sort occured in the game section but damn if i couldn't hear it over the commotion in my own aisle as flurries of people asked me where so-and-so mp3 players were, are these the speakers on sale, where's the SD card that comes in a bundle with this PDA, WHAR R UR IPODS?! :D?! etc. etc. after about 6:45, things slowed dramatically in comparison as most people were done and were now standing in the line that curved all throughout the store. there were small rushes here and there and i did my best to keep the sale items in stock. think i did a decent job of it save for those first couple of hours.
i actually had two 1/2hrs breaks on the clock then a 2hr break off. each break was SO VERY SAVORED, and i was able to nap a bit after getting something to eat during my 2hr, though i was still very sleep deprived. i think i got maybe 4hrs of sleep total last night, give or take. the catered food was bleh. donuts, milk/oj/coffee for the 'breakfast' break and sammich fixin's for the lunch one. i kinda would've rather brought my own LO's from mom's Thanksgiving dinrar or gotten a sandwich at the cafe but eh...guess i can't bitch too much about free food.
( speaking of bitching, rant about a coworker ahead... )
bleh, overall though, the day went pretty well. it's kind of a good thing i'm at the PA store rather than the SV one because i'm sure that one is fucking HELL to work on Black Friday. i'm sure they get a LOT more customers than we do. and the customers were really polite for the most part. if anything, there some language/heavy accent barriers but that was about it. a lot of it was me just directing people to where stuff was so...all good. OMG NEXT PAYCHECK WILL BE SO MUCH LUFF~ <3
ugh...now to sleep. the supervisor tonight said that the people that stayed behind later could come in an hour later since we stayed til 1. i think i'mma take him up on that offer. z_z

eh, since just about everyone is posting their opinions on it, and i happen to be working at a place that sells them, i figured i'd put in my pesos.
on the ps3, yeah, there were people lined up outside of my Fry's as of wednesday afternoon. last night, it looked like there might've been...20-30 people camped out, which is good because i think our store only has 20-30 units. before i went to work this morning, i think i saw my old neighborhood friends packing up chairs to go wait in line somewhere too. it's a very shiny system but really, nothing i'm dying to get at the moment. i haven't had a new game system since the GameCube went down to $99. for the most part, any game that i'm wanting to play, i can play at a friend's and it's usually a bit more fun that way anyways but honestly, the only game i've really been dying to play on the PS2 as of recent is Guitar Hero so...yeah...
as for the wii, yeah, it's got nothing of the spark that the 360 and PS3 have, and really, why does it NEED to? Nintendo is NOT a multi-market company such as Microsoft or Sony, it's there to make GAMES and SYSTEMS TO PLAY THEM. why fix or PIMP UP something when it really doesn't need to in order to reach it's audience? look at the fucking DS Lite for fucks sake. it has NONE of the SHINY that the PSP had but it SOLD THE FUCK OUT just as well, if not BETTER, all over the world. there in the industry to make GAMES and GAME SYSTEMS. if it's not broke, don't fix it. and let's face it, Nintendo is ALWAYS going to appeal to the younger kids and PARENTS especially because they have the games that are a lot more kid friendly. so there
stormdragon, that's my reasoning for it. you say all the time that tabletop RPG games muck things up with the rules that they forget that people just want to PLAY. Nintendo is here to ensure people get to do just that.
as for me, i'll probably get...neither. at least not right away. i still want a PS2 because that's all i really need in order to play GH and a few other games, and i might get a DS Lite because there are some games that have my interest as well. really though, i kinda have too much on my plate to really worry about the next new shiny game system.

so after waiting 2 weeks or so to get laptop due to various reasons, i tell my mom i don't want to wait anymore, even if i'll have to pay her a bit more of my summer job money. after reconfirming all the specs and upgrades i want for the 17" MacBook Pro via the online store, we head out to the Apple store and double check everything i want, plus the pros/cons for the protection plan, yadda yadda... we ask the clerk helping us to check if they have one with the specs i want already installed (2G memory, 100G 7200rpm HD)...
guy comes back...
Clerk: Well...good news and bad news... Good news, we have one with the 2g of memory.
Us: :DDD!
Clerk: Bad news...the 7200rpm HD is online order only.
Us/Me especially: DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDX
absolutely NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOwhere on the site does it mention that it's available via the online store only on the site sooooooooooooo...slightly miffed i'm gonna have to wait even longer now... -_-;
*walks to the corner and grumbles muchly*
i've already commented (read: BITCHED) on the website about it so while it'll be good if they change it up for other people that want it, i wouldn't mind some asskissing discount of some sort, though i'm also not holding my breath. *sigh*
EDIT: anyone have suggestions as to where to get a bag for it? most of the bags at the actual Apple store were for the 15.4" one so yeah... will be checking Fry's later, maybe places like Office Max (AAAAAAUGH) and Staples too. actual location places prefered to online.

okay
gtonizuka, remember that conversation we had way back when about Final Scratch? and it seemed like neither
stormdragon,
muimi07 or myself could picture the set up you were trying to describe? well, i have a much better understanding of it now since my cousin has it and was using it in the college campus quad on v-day.
okay, so it's your normal dj set up but instead of lugging around a heavy bagful of vinyl, you only have a laptop and 2 very special cut records. instead of the normal circular groove, these records actually have crosshatch grooves in them that create an odd frequency. when you hook the laptop into the FS amp, you're able to play these mp3s...through those records because of their weird grooves. it was really neat to see in action (before i had to run off to do my english midterm. gawww~ =_=;).
after getting a much more solid idea as to how FS works, i can definately see myself investing in one of these set ups because it's A LOT more convenient...without give up too much of the challenge of using vinyl that cd/mp3 decks does. *starts saving*
...i still love my vinyl though~ <3
